Reflective Narrative:
Through this course, I learned about what was needed to fulfill the core requirements and major-specific learning outcomes for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese and Culture. We also were introduced to the research and technology skills needed to successfully complete our majors. In class lectures with our assigned librarian to help us learn how to search appropriate databases throughout the CSUMB network were also conducted. In addition to classroom assignments, we had a class field trip to the Middlebury Institute of International Studies where we had an opportunity to view live interpretation and translation and ask questions about possible career opportunities within our field of study. I was able to learn how to effectively write a resume and a personal statement when our guest speakers from the Center for Advising, Career and Student Success conducted their presentation and in-class Q&A session.
